The coming of warmer weather has Hudsonville Schools starting a huge project that will take quite a long time to complete. It was voted in favor this past year to do an addition to the Hudsonville High School. We are outgrowing our current school so changes had to be made. South Elementary School will be torn down as soon as school is out to make room for the new Freshman campus. They are now in the process of building a new South School just south of Hudsonville which will be ready for the students this fall. The tear down process is also happening at the old football stadium where we went to many games to cheer HHS Eagles on to victory. The baseball fields that our son Joey played on and the tennis courts that our son Jeff played on are all being torn out. (new ones have already been built several years ago at the athletic facilities by one of the middles schools). The bus barn will come down once this school session has ended and a new one is being built just west of the current location. There will be some remodeling going on at the current high school as well, adding a much needed new larger auditorium. The now current freshmen campus will be turned into a daycare center and preschool. In the weeks and months ahead I am hoping to take many walks with Christi and take many pictures of the progress of the construction and update the blog at least once a week. Hope you enjoy.
Here is a couple of pictures of the Old South school. Kind of sad in a way, I have many wonderful memories of school days there.
This next picture is the New South school being constructed.
Here are some pictures of the old Hudsonville football stadium in the process of being torn down. You will even see a picture of the old scoreboard.
This is a picture of the old football locker room and concession stand.
These pictures are of what is left of the old varsity baseball field and dugouts. We hope to take home a piece of the dugout for Joey when they tear it out.
Go Hudsonville Eagles
Hudsonville is really growing!
Stay tuned for more pictures and updates to come soon.
