Picture Of The Day

Thursday, March 29, 2012

Okay here is the picture of the day.  The picture yesterday was “what was wrong with THIS picture”?  Well here is what it should have looked like.  Remember this is going to be a kitchen.  Well in a kitchen you normally have a kitchen sink.  I ran the drain line out the drywall but forgot to run the Hot & Cold water lines.  So I had to remove the sheet of drywall and install the Hot & Cold supply lines.  I had run them down there just forgot the last step of running them out the wall. Had to laugh about it, at least I noticed it before I started putting the mud and tape on the joints.

Hope everyone has a great day and weekend coming up,

Drywall All Hung

Wednesday, March 28, 2012

I had to take a week off to get some other things done so now I should be back on task on working on the the room that will become our second kitchen.

I had gotten one sheet of drywall hung when I did my last post.  I finished hinging the other 14 sheets and so am ready to start taping the joints. This first picture is looking down the hallway leading to the kitchen.

This last picture will be your Next picture of the day.  Your task if you choose to do it is to look at it and tell me what is wrong with this picture.  My next post will reveal the answer.  Good luck.

Here is what the picture of the day was.  Picture of our Granddaughter taken at Ottawa Beach. This was 2 years ago already so summer of 2010

                             Waites 78

It was a fun time for all.  Here are a few more pictures taken that day. The weather this week has been so warm it has broken several all time highs for several days so make you think warm thoughts, like going to the beach.

Here is the next picture of the day.  No guessing on this one.  We just had a nice Visit with Ann and took her picture while we were there.  She is doing quite well and says often, “they treat me so nice here”, in fact she told us that 5 or 6 times.

Picture Of The Day

Tuesday, March 6, 2012

Here is the full size of the picture of the day for yesterday.  Congratulations to Lois for guessing it correctly.  It is our Poinsettia plant.  We received for Christmas from our Realistat  agent.  It is amazing that it is still living and actually doing fairly well.  May have to do with it gets a lot of natural light because it’s sits in front of our huge slider.

Well here is the next picture of the day, Good Luck.

Back Home Again And Time To Continue Remodeling

Monday, March 5, 2012

While we are back home again in good ole Michigan.  We got hopefully our last snowfall on Saturday evening, and it was cold today only in the high 20’s but they tell us tomorrow it is supposed to get up to 51 and then close to 60 on Wednesday.  While here is the picture of the day from our last post. It was taken of a close-up of the pavement in Victory lane at Daytona 500

                                  DSC04213

My next project in the basement is to build a second kitchen complete with sink, and appliances so Christi can use this for making of cakes and holding her card classes and use it for when we have large family gatherings.  I finished off the roughing in and installing a new and bigger breaker box and pulling in all the wire.

Christi went with me and helped pickup the drywall from Lowe’s, but as you can see she did not help carry it down, but she did offer to take my picture.

A Beautiful Day Spent At Busch Gardens

Saturday, March 3, 2012

Before I show you pictures of our day trip, I will reveal the picture of the day, Did you guess it right?  It was a picture of a Cheetah from Busch Gardens.

                             DSC04338

We decided to take a drive to Tampa and visit Busch Gardens and then spent the night in Orlando as our flight was leaving early the next morning.  I had not been there since I was a freshmen in High school so it was totally new to me.

They had several of these shrubbery around the park groomed to look like different animals.

             DSC04284 DSC04299

And of course lots of variety of animals to see.

DSC04310 DSC04314

An of course I had to ride the roller coasters.  I even talked Christi into going on one.  I don’t think she has forgiven me yet for that.

DSC04334 DSC04333

Then we took a more leisurely ride on the lift that takes you from one end of the park to the other.

DSC04329 DSC04331

It was a fun day spend with the one I love and the weather could not have been better.  It was in the mid to upper 70’s on that day, our last full day in Florida.

Gentlemen Start Your Engines

Thursday, March 1, 2012

We spent a fun time at the Indianapolis Speedway.  We were able to take a 1-1/2 hour tour of the entire place with our host Dick.  It was a beautiful day and with the race coming up only a couple of weeks away a lot of excitement going on. But first I need to show you what the picture of the day was for yesterday.  It was a close-up of the surface of this fountain you could jump into if you wanted to.  Did anyone get it right, if not it was a tough one.

                                    DSC04265

This is the entrance sign as you come in and this years pace car.

DSC04183 DSC04186

You cannot believe unless you have been there how HUGE this place is.  It’s 2-3/4 miles just around the track and it has a large lake right in the middle which I never knew. They have fishing contests and skiing competitions.

DSC04193DSC04192

At one point they let us get out and walk up the steep 19’ bank.  It is really steep and that is the smaller of the turns.  There is one that has a 35’ bank and they don’t let anyone walk up there anymore due to someone falling down on it once.

Victory Lane where they are handled the trophies and all the interviews take place.

DSC04213 DSC04214

These two pictures are of the old Victory Lane and a picture of my biggest racing driver the late Dale Earnhardt after he won his Daytona 500.

DSC04234 DSC04218

This is the winner of last years Daytona 500 race.  They take the car away from the team just as it is, and do not clean it up so you can see all the dried up Champaign and confetti still on it.  The team does not get it back until after the next years Daytona 500 race.  The winning driver last year was Rookie driver Trevor Bayne.

 DSC04240 DSC04241

This is two pictures of the view you get from the press box which is 6 stories up.  The picture on the left shows the lake and the picture on the right shows the view looking at the last turn before the checkered flag.

DSC04235 DSC04232

There is a lot more pictures we took but don’t want to bore you with them all.  It was a fun day and watching the race this year will be extra special after taking the tour.  Now for the picture of the day.  Hint it has to do with what we did another day.
