First all the carpet needs to be torn out.

We were able to gift three families from church with the old carpet as it was still good, yet not what we wanted.

Next, Christi removed all the cabinet doors and I removed the room and closet doors.

After that, and while I was removing the kitchen subfloor, (and it seemed like a million staples), Christi was organizing the downstairs as we were be going to live down there for the first month or so. She did a great job of getting shelves put up and using the shelves that were underneath the stairs to setup her temporary home for her Stampin’ Up! business. We also purchased a TV so the grandkids could play their games on it, if it was not nice outside to play.

Don’t you just love the two linoleums we found hidden under their current linoleum?
Just got to love the 80’s!!

Tyler, and our daughter Julie, even got into helping nail down the staples that refused to pull out. Christi even tried her hand at pulling out tacks in the living room floor.

Our temporary bedroom. We were given a great King size mattress to sleep on and just had to purchase a box spring and frame for it. Hey if you roll out of bed, you don’t have far to fall!

Now it was time for the painting of the kitchen cabinets and trim to begin. We hired a painter from our church and they did a great job.

Kyle Krogh, our pastors son, works for them in the summer and is prepping a window.

All the cabinets and trim and ceiling are completed and they even painted

Christi’s desk we got for free from a couple at church.

Now it was our turn (or my turn) to paint the walls. Christi and a gal from church picked out the colors and just pointed to the walls they went on. The only say I had was my office, which when I started painting it, I had to stop as it looked too “Baby Blue” for a “Man’s” office. So they had it tinted so it had a more gray tone to it.

Christi did almost all the taping up of the trim and she did a great job, Thanks hon!

Now with the kitchen painted it was time to clean the cupboards and then put the doors back on with the new Black hardware Christi had picked out.

Well that’s enough pictures for one blog. I hope you are enjoying seeing the change. Next up will be the countertop being replaced and the new flooring and appliances going in. Until then,

Dale and Christi
