Water Bucket Brigade

Friday, July 16, 2010

When playing outside in the summer it is a MUST to include WATER.  I picked up some sponges from the dollar store and let the kids have a little game of transferring the water from one bucket to the other with the use of the sponges. water bucket brigade c I was amazed how well Gracie did and she didn’t give up, she even “won” round one! water bucket brigade a What’s a game without a treat, right? so they each got a tootsie roll. water bucket brigade b Well, that spurred them on to do another round, but then who should arrive, but the ICE CREAM MAN!ice cream man a  Normally I don’t keep cash on hand but today was their lucky day and they each were able to get a treat from the ice cream man.  ice cream man bice cream man e

Tyler chose a Jolly Rancher Ice Cone ice cream man d

A RICE CAKE!!!!??? ice cream man fOh well, maybe when he is older.  Thankfully he doesn’t know the difference yet and he was very happy with his rice cake.

Hope you are all having a great summer!

A Day Spent With Just The Two Of Us

Friday, June 4, 2010

June 3 is Christi and my anniversary and we will be celebrating 33 years.  We decided to spend the weekend in Grand Haven.  I, being a true Hollander had gotten a free nights stay at the Holiday Inn in Spring Lake right on the water for all the surveys I take on my computer and had a coupon for $25.00 off from a restaurant, the restaurant was great by the way if you ever get out that way.  It is called Arboreal Inn and is a very small but romantic restaurant with great food and a live quiet guitar player.

We first went to Ottawa Beach in Holland and took a walk on the pier and took some fun pictures as we were scoping out this area as we are going to have our family go out there in a couple of weeks and have our family pictures taken by a gal from church.

Then it was off to Grand Haven where we just had a great time being together.  The weather was great, and the water temperature still cool enough to bring a nice cool breeze off the water while you were walking.  We then took some pictures out on the Grand Haven pier at Sunset.

We even got an unexpected pleasure of the musical fountain as we were walking back on the boardwalk.

And I even got to see a BRIDGE as we were coming from our hotel.  Those who know me well would understand why I had to take this picture.  The rest of you will just have to wonder or ask.  Overall it was a great spent with the one I love and that God has chosen for me to be my life mate.

Next she helped Gramma

wash down the walls.          They were only going to clean the living room but Gracie did not want to quit so Gramma let her clean the slider going out onto the deck.  Gracie was a great little helper that day.

Up and coming future Baseball Star

Wednesday, June 2, 2010

We have enjoyed watching our Grandson Tyler grow up and learn baseball.  We have watched him in T-ball and now it is really fun watching him for the first year of machine pitch and where they keep track of 3 outs and runs.  He has really improved and is quite a hitter.  He has also learned the art of running bases and really likes it if he gets on base and then gets to run the bases if the next person up gets a hit.  Keep up the Great Work Tyler.

Come on pitching machine bring me your best stuff!

Christi’s Creative Craft Sale Day

Tuesday, June 1, 2010

A couple of weeks ago I took the day off from work and helped Christi out as she had a spot in a craft sale in the Outlet Mall in Holland.  We had a fun couple of days spent together.  The first evening which was a Friday it was quite slow, but on Saturday business picked up quite a bit and made it worth the work she put into it.  I even met a former fellow employee I had worked with for many years when I worked in Zeeland at Hy-lift.

Remembering Our Mother on Mother’s Day

Monday, May 31, 2010

Thanks to Phil and Sherry who each Mothers day make sure flowers are ordered and I usually pick them up and bring them to Mom and Dad’s grave stone.  Sorry I am so late with these but it has been a busy spring.  There are not many weeks that go by that I don’t think about Mom and Dad and the great times we had together.  Sometimes just driving by and seeing a “berry’s for sale” sign will make me think of Mom and Dad and bring a tear to my eye.  They say as time goes by it gets easier, but as we get older I think I miss them both more now then ever.  Love You Mom & Dad

God’s Beautiful Creation Springs Anew Again

Monday, May 3, 2010

I just love this time of the year when many of the flowers burst forth with the colors God gave them, and the temperatures are still cool and not muggy yet.  I took a walk out in the yard and just started snapping some pictures of God’s beautiful creation bursting forth with new life once again.

Even my Peach tree I planted last fall which looked like a stick is springing forth with new growth.

So for now…
